SHAWNEE – Junior Maxamillian Wheeler claimed top individual honors as he led Oklahoma Baptist to a second-place finish in Saturday's annual OBU Invitational at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center.
Wheeler crossed the finish line with a time of 25:45.35 at a 3:13.16 per kilometer pace. It is the first career individual cross country victory for Wheeler.
Next were sophomore Carson Kardokus (27:04.10, 6th) and freshman James Williams (27:16.92, 9th). Then came senior Blake Cope (28:47.48, 17th), sophomore Samuel Fantoni (30:14.76, 20th), and sophomore Corey McIntire (31:05.26, 24th).
The Bison scored 45 points off a 1-4-7-15-18 finish in the event that featured five schools.
With these efforts, the Bison recorded five finishers in the top 25, running at an average time of 27:49.72.
Next on the agenda for the Bison is the Great American Conference championship on Nov. 5 in Shawnee at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center.
