SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist University cheerleading program attended the National Cheerleaders Association Collegiate National Qualifier Camp at Northwest Missouri State University, July 26-29.
Among the 14 teams in attendance, including several NCAA Division I universities, Bison cheer finished the week claiming the highest awards available – two paid bids to National Cheerleaders Assocation Collegiate Nationals, as well as numerous other honors.
The two-time defending NCA national champion advanced all girl team won best all-around, most collegiate, top gun stunt group, overall game day champion, and finished by earning the most points over all teams at the camp.
"Our coaching staff is extremely proud of the work ethic of our athletes this week," said OBU spirit coordinator and head cheer coach
Jessica Stiles. "The teams represented OBU with class, grit and athleticism. We look forward to bringing more national champions home to Bison Hill again this year and camp is where that begins!"
Five Bison earned Collegiate All-American status for performing elite skills at a high level. Those athletes were sophomores Kinzington Hacker, Addi Higgins,
Isabella Vinyard, and
Charisma Whitehead, and junior
Carrington Rogers.
Bison cheer will return to the NCA National Championship in April 2022 to defend its titles.
