SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team traveled to Springfield, Missouri, Monday to participate in the Central Region Preview at Twin Oaks Country Club. After 18 holes the Bison sit seventh, carding a first round total of 315 (+27), and sit just eight shots back of second-place Central Oklahoma.
Arkansas Tech leads the team standing through 18 holes at 301 (+13).
"We had a good first day," said OBU head coach Mike Manapig. "I'm excited to see how the team will compete tomorrow."
Elly Baze was the top individual finisher for the Bison, carding a first round total of 77 (+5). She currently sits in a six-way tie for 15
th place. Eight other golfer sit bunched one stroke ahead at 4-over-par.
Josie Patterson and
Shelby Phillips enter day two in the top 30 after posting matching rounds of 79 (+7).
Hayden Meiser stands close behind at 8-over-par after an opening round 80, good for a tie for 37th, while
Michelle Carr carded an 82 (+10) in round one.
Jacqueline Klemm of Arkansas Tech is the tournament leader, posting the only under-par round of the day with a 67 (-5).
The Central Region Preview concludes on Tuesday with the final 18 holes at Twin Oaks. The Bison are slated to tee off beginning at approximately 8:03 a.m.
