EDMOND, Okla. – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team opened its third tournament of the season at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational Monday at Edmond's Kickingbird Golf Club posting the best round of the season so far. The Bison are currently in fourth place having carded a round one total of 310 (+30) with two of five OBU golfers standing in the top 10.

Michelle Carr and
Elly Baze were the top finishers for OBU, posting a round one total of 75 (+5). They both sit in a five-way tie for seventh.

Carr and Baze are currently only two strokes back of the tournament leaders, Jessica Green of Rogers State and Megan Brown of Southwestern Oklahoma State, who both carded a round one score of 73 (+3).

Other round one finishes for the Bison included
Shelby Phillips (+9),
Josie Patterson (+11), and
Valentina Nunez-Butzonitch (+11).

OBU also fielded a second five-member team (OBU B team) which included
Izzy Lette,
Kailee McCrary,
Rylei Gunter,
Shelby Palmour, and
Abby Boren. The OBU B team finished round one with a team score of 353 (+73).

"I am proud of how we played in the wind today," said head coach
Mike Manlapig. "We're going to need to a lot of the same tomorrow in a little stronger wind."

The Bison will close out the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational on Tuesday, March 9, with group one set to tee off at 9 a.m.
