ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team shot a 338 (+50) on Monday morning to sit in seventh place after the first round of the Holiday Inn Express Classic at the St. Joseph Country Club.
The Bison dealt with high wind conditions all day long exceeding more than 30 miles per hour throughout the day. Despite that, OBU was still second on the day in Par 3s at +14 and fifth among the field in overall pars with 34.
Hayden Meiser led the Bison with an 82 (+10) and sits in 10th place while
Josie Patterson and
Michelle Carr each shot an 85 (+13) to sit in a tie for 26th.
Meiser was fifth on the day in Par 5s among the leaderboard at +1 while Carr had two birdies on the day, both coming on Par 3s.Â
Elly Baze had a birdie on the day and shot an 86 (+14) while
Shelby Phillips finished with a 90 (+18) to round out the team scoring.
Central Oklahoma leads the tournament with a 322 (+34) while Northeastern State sits in second at 328 (+40). Southwestern Oklahoma State in third at 331 (+43) while Rogers State and Nebraska-Kearney round out the top five with a 335 (+47).
Though winds will be a factor, they will slow down a tad on Tuesday morning as OBU will look to climb the leaderboard on a cool day in the final round. The Bison are set to tee off at 9 a.m.
