CONWAY, Ark. – The Oklahoma Baptist men's and women's swim and dive team took the pool for the first time in 2021, racing the Warriors of Hendrix College Saturday in Conway, Arkansas. OBU dominated the meet, bringing home 29 victories out of 32 events.

Cassidy Wright took home two straight wins in both the one-meter dive (269.10) and the three-meter dive (249.25). This brings her season win total to three.

The women swept the speed events with
Julie Day (50 yard backstroke),
Emma Jorgensen (50 yard breaststroke),
Laura Cifuentes (100 ard fly),
Megan Gallagher (50 yard freestyle),
Lyndsey Brueckner (100 yard freestyle),
Kaelyn Lance (100 yard backstroke),
Anna Tindall (100 yard breaststroke), and
Jamie Edwards (50 yard fly).

On the men's side, the Bison dominated the speed events, with
Kaiden Gonser (50 yard backstroke),
Nathan Chan (50 yard breaststroke and 100 yard breaststroke),
Colton Wyatt (100 yard freestyle),
William Newman (100 yard backstroke), and Estevao Hornos (50 yard fly and 50 yard freestyle).

Alfredo Arrieche led the team in the distance events bringing home the win in the 500 yard freestyle (4:59.18) and the 1000 yard freestyle (10:17.74).

OBU also continued its dominance this season in relays. The Bison swept the Warriors in the men's and women's 200 yard medley and 200 yard freestyle.

"I was very happy with the way everyone showed up today to race and dive with positive attitudes," said head coach
Matt Hood. "It was tough competing after only being in the water for a few days, but the team did a really great job of stepping up and racing."

OBU is scheduled to return to action on Friday, Jan. 15, when they take on Oklahoma Christian in Oklahoma City.
