SHAWNEE – Junior
Josie Patterson of Chandler, Oklahoma, enters her junior year with the Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team and is ready to get things rolling with her team in the spring. We caught up with Josie in the sixth edition of Bison Profile.
What other institutions recruited you out of high school or junior college and why did you choose OBU?
"I was recruited by Rogers State, UCO, Redlands, and OBU. I chose OBU because the team was close unlike other teams I had talked to and all of the girls were really nice. I also loved the campus when I went on my visit and everyone I talked to was really kind and welcoming."
Describe your love for the sport of golf.
"I grew up playing golf with my family and even though I did not start playing competitively until I was 12, I loved that it was something I could do with my whole family. Once I started playing competitively, I instantly fell in love with the game because it was constantly challenging me and pushing me to work hard. Without this game I also would not have met some of the people I now call my best friends and I would not be as hard working and competitive as I am today."
What is your favorite memory from playing golf?
"Traveling with my teammates and meeting people that love the game as much as I do."
Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
"My parents have been the biggest influence in my life because they taught me to work hard for the things that I want and to keep fighting when things get tough."
Who is your all-time favorite athlete and why?
"My favorite athlete is Tiger Woods because he has done so much in the game of golf and continues to improve and break records even after several injuries. His work ethic and determination are also unmatched compared to other players."
What's your favorite pre-game meal?
"My favorite pregame meal is scrambled eggs and peanut butter toast before I tee off in the morning."
What is your spirit animal and why?
"My spirit animal is a turtle because I am determined and persistent when working to improve my golf game but I also know that it will take time to get where I want to be."

"Remember the Name" by Fort Minor and Style Of Beyond
