EDMOND, Okla. – Fighting through humid conditions, the Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country team claimed fifth place at the University of Central Oklahoma Land Run on Saturday morning to open the 2019 season.
The Bison finished with 122 points and two runners inside the top 20. In the process, Oklahoma Baptist claimed wins over a pair of Great American Conference teams in Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southern Nazarene.
Noah Eskew paced the Bison with a time of 20:59.11, good for 13th overall.
Steven Clark, making his collegiate debut, placed 19th overall after clocking in at 21:24.36 in the four-mile race.
Jarrett Ellis, 30th overall, and
Cameron Mills, 31st overall, completed the course in 21:41.15 and 21:42.05, respectively.
Blake Cope was OBU's final scoring runner, claiming 35th overall in a time of 22:04.46.
Parker Ables and
Landon Boddy served as displacers for OBU with times of 22:24.64 and 22:46.84, good for 44th and 54th overall.
Others running for OBU were:
Garrett Elmore (23:12.32, 62nd),
Caleb Dyer (23:56.44, 76th),
Avery Hanna (24:06.77, 79th),
Connor Heath (24:41.06, 90th) and
Colton Martin (25:38.29, 98th).
The Bison will have a week off before traveling to Joplin, Missouri, for the Missouri Southern Stampede on Saturday, Sept. 21.
