OBU Challenging Leaders at RMAC Swim Meet

LEWISVILLE, Texas – Oklahoma Baptist kept its momentum surging forward winning first place in a number of races in the third day of competition at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swim Championships. The fourth and final day will begin Saturday at the LISD Aquatic Center in Lewisville, Texas.

OBU and Colorado Mesa have a sizeable lead in the team scoring race, and the outcome will likely not be settled until the final event.

On the women's side, Marize Van Jaarsveld won her third individual race, finishing first in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:01.83, a full second ahead of the second-place finisher. Van Jaarsveld won 200 and 400 IM earlier and was on three championship relay teams.

Julia Cifuentes edged teammate Victoria Fonville at the wall to win the 100 Breaststroke. Cifuentes touched in 1:02.53, a half second faster than Fonville's 1:03.10.

On the men's side, Robinson Molina added to his two relay wins by easily outdistancing the field in the 100 Backstroke. His time of 47.71 was a full second faster than the second-place swimmer from Oklahoma Christian.

Also taking first for OBU was Jordan Atkins in the 100 IM with a time of 56.75.
