Swimmers Collect Several Top Finishes

LEWISVILLE, Texas – Oklahoma Baptist had an impressive first day at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swim and Dive Championships. The four-day event continues Thursday at the Lewisville Independent School District Westside Aquatic Center in Lewisville, Texas

OBU won both the men's and women's 200-yard medley relays, keeping its winning streak alive in the event. The women's team of Maddie Carson, Victoria Fonville, Juliana Cifuentes and Julia Day finished at 1:43.24, nearly two seconds in front of the second-place team from Colorado-Mines.

The men's team of Robinson Molina, Felipe Zapata, Davion Conley and Gabriel Knaut touched in 1:28.25, a half-second faster than second-place Colorado-Mesa.

OBU also got first-place finishes in the women's 200-yard IM by Marizel Van Jaarsveld and Victoria Fonville in the 50-yard free. Van Jaarsveld won easily, finishing in 2:01.62, three seconds better than the second-place swimmer. Fonville's time of 2:81 in the 50 free was 0.07 seconds faster than the runner-up time from Western State.
