SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball team opens the 2019-20 season on Bison Hill with a Thursday night exhibition contest against Oklahoma City University. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Noble Complex.

The Bison enter their second season under head coach
Jason Eaker looking to build on the success of their 2018-19 campaign that saw them go 16-14 overall and 14-8 in GAC play while advancing to the conference semifinals.
After being picked 12th in last year's preseason poll, Eaker's squad was tabbed third by the GAC coaches heading into the 2019-20 season.
The Bison return a number of key contributors, including seniors
Dishon Lowery and
Caleb Norris, juniors
Harrison Stoddart and
Brantly Thompson, and sophomore
Mohammed Abubakar. OBU also returns redshirt senior point guard
Rashad Lewis, a Mercer transfer, who sat our last season due to injury. Incoming players expected to make an impact for the Bison include guards
Jaquan Simms, a transfer from Limestone College, and Jcaque Brown, a UNC-Wilmington transfer, and forward
Kurt Hall, who comes to OBU from St. Cloud State. Freshmen
Jarius Hicklen and
Trey Green are also expected to log minutes this season.
The matchup with OCU marks the renewal of one of the greatest rivalries in the Sooner Athletic Conference.The Bison and Stars met 110 times in NAIA competition, with Thursday night's contest marking the first meeting between the two programs since OBU made the transition to NCAA Division II.
