SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist will honor its seven senior swimmers and divers as the Bison host their final home dual welcoming Ouachita Baptist University. The meet will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.
Both men's and women's teams are ranked nationally and finished fifth place last year at the NCAA Division II Championships.
Seniors
Jonathan Stewart,
Ryan Walker, Felipe Ramirez,
Otto Lehtonen,
Austin Saunders,
Miriam Avila and
Genesis Veliz will be recognized in a special ceremony planned at the meet.
OBU and Ouachita both swam earlier this month in Florida. The Bison won seven-of-eight events in their matchup at Florida Tech while Ouachita was beaten by West Florida.
Some of the highlights for OBU women this year have been the performance of 200-yard, freestyle-relay team which rank seventh nationally. Others include
Victoria Fonville who ranks third in the 50-yard free and seventh in the 100-yard free and
Marizel Van Jaarsveld who ranks in the top 10 in seven events nationally. Also, Veliz who is a NCAA Champion in the 3-Meter Board, will return to the board after an extended injury. She will be diving on the one-meter board Saturday.is ranked nationally in diving.
For the men expect standout performances from newcomer
Robinson Molina who swam on winning 200-yard medley and the 400-yard mixed backstroke relay teams against Florida Tech. Walker will team with him on a number of relay events.
 Teammate Felipe Ramirez is ranked nationally. He enters the meet sixth in the 200-yard backstroke and eighth in the 100-yard butterfly.
Also expected to swim well is returning All-American
Davion Conley whose specialty is the breaststroke. He will be joined by Walker in a number of the relay events.
Lehtonen, who ranks in the top 10 in both the one and three-meter boards, should again score well
OBU's remaining schedule has them twice visiting SMU on Jan. 26 and again on Feb. 9 before hosting the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swim Championships Wednesday, Feb. 13 in Lewisville, Texas.
