SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist was picked to finish third in the Great American Conference preseason coaches' poll. The results of the poll were released Wednesday afternoon.
The Bison cross country team received 25 points in the poll. Oklahoma Baptist finished third at the GAC Championship last year, and is returning
Garrett Elmore, who earned second team All-GAC accolades at the meet. Oklahoma Baptist are the top-ranked team from Oklahoma in the poll.
Harding are the favorites to repeat as champions in 2018 after receiving five first place votes and 34 total points. Southern Arkansas picked up the other two available first place votes, and enters the poll in second place with 31 points.
Immediately behind OBU in fourth place is East Central with 22 points, while Southern Nazarene is fifth with 18 points. Northwestern Oklahoma State (10 points) and Arkansas-Monticello (7 points) round out the bottom of the poll.
The Bison start their season at the Central Oklahoma Land Run in Edmond on Saturday, Sept. 1.
