COLUMBIA, Mo. – The OBU swimming and diving teams performed well against a strong field at the Missouri Invitational Friday.

Victoria Fonville swam the fastest 50 freestyle in Division II with a time of 22.71. Â

The women's 200 freestyle relay of Fonville,
Julie Day,
Marizel Van Jaarsveld and
Jamie Edwards met the qualifying standard for the national championships in a time of 1:33.42.

Van Jaarsveld  also qualified for nationals with a time of 2:03.61 in the 200 IM.
Â
The OBU women are currently ranked 12th nationally in DII.

On the men's side,
Otto Lehtonen qualified in for nationals in one-meter diving against competition from Division I programs BYU, Boise State, Utah, Missouri, Arkansas,  Drury, McKendree, San Diego State, and Cal Baptist.

Felipe Ramirez made a national time cut in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.03.

The Bison are currently tied for 20th in the country in Division II.

"It's a very fast meet and we have a lot of work to do, but I'm proud of our athletes and happy how they raced against some solid competition," said OBU head coach Sam Freas. "They would make OBU fans proud."

Competition continues through Saturday evening at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
