SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist men's cross country finished third on Saturday at the OBU Invitational at Gordon Cooper Technology Center. It was OBU's second top three finish of the year, and their first since they won the Central Oklahoma Land Run to open the 2018 season.
"The guys are improving every week," said OBU head coach
Matt Kennedy. "We've not yet put together a complete team effort, but we're getting close. I am really proud of the guys. I thought they were intentional with the race strategy and executed well."
The Bison scored 75 points, with all five scoring runners finishing inside the top 25. Oklahoma Baptist completed the course in an average time of 27:20.29.
Blaine Whitson paced the Bison with a time of 26:57.03 on the 8,000-meter course to finish 10th overall in his final OBU Invitational. He was followed closely by a pair of freshmen,
Noah Eskew and
Cameron Mills, who placed 13th and 14th, respectively, with times of 27:15.75 and 27:23.06.
DeAngelo Robles finished fourth among Bison and 18th overall after completing the course in 27:31.72, while
Nathan Crowson rounded out OBU's scoring in 22nd place after crossing the line in 27:33.88.

Carlos James (81st, 31:50.18) and
Caleb Dyer (84th, 32:20.69).
Oklahoma Baptist takes the rest of the month off in preparation for the Great American Conference Championship on Saturday, Nov. 3 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
