SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist indoor track and field resumes competition Thursday at the Shocker Prelude, hosted by Wichita State in Wichita, Kansas.

Field events are set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with track events to follow at 3 p.m. at the Heskett Center on the campus of Wichita State. Other teams expected to compete are Butler County, Emporia State, Friends, Fort Hays State and Ottawa (AZ). Thursday's meet will mark the first for OBU in 2018.

The Bison and Lady Bison opened up the season in December at the Crimson & Gold Invitational in Pittsburg, Kansas. OBU men posted seven top-10 finishes in the first meet of the season, while the women met two provisional standards for the national championship.

Senior
Abby Hoover met the NCAA Division II provisional time in the 5000-meter run in 16:54.81, which is the fifth fastest time in the NCAA this season. A team of
McKae Mitchell,
Breanna Hurlbut,
JoziRose Mayfield and
Kya Barnes met the provisional standard in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:50.73. That time is good enough for sixth in the nation.

Jacob Janzen,
Nathan Crowson and
Garrett Elmore each finished in the top-five for the one-mile run at the first meet of the season.
Carlos James had a third place finish in the 800-meter run in 8:46.31.
Saleem Fadel ranks No. 23 in the weight throw this season after a throw of 58' 6.5" at the opening meet.
