SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist begins their first season as a full NCAA Division II team with a fifth place preseason ranking in the Great American Conference women's golf coaches' poll.
The Lady Bison received 33 votes from other GAC coaches. Earning a first place ranking with 62 votes, including six first-place votes, was Arkansas Tech. Southwestern Oklahoma State trailed with 55 votes and two first-place votes. Henderson State took third place with 54 votes, receiving one first-place vote.
Arkansas-Monticello received 40 votes to insure the fourth place rank just above the Lady Bison. Following OBU are Southern Nazarene at 27, Southern Arkansas at 25, Northwestern Oklahoma State at 16, and Harding at 12. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the poll.
OBU brings eight returning players to the course from last season, along with one former redshirt and one incoming freshman set to debut.
Lady Bison kick off their season at the Central Region Fall Preview in Olathe, Kansas, on September 5-6.
