SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist will recognize its seniors, strike out cancer and play Shawnee rival St. Gregory's in the final home baseball game of the season Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Strikeout Cancer game will include free hot dogs while they last, an auction of the pink jerseys the players will wear and an auction of other baseball gear and memorabilia. Credit cards and cash will be accepted.

Ten OBU seniors are on Bison Field as players for their last game.

Oklahoma Baptist leads the all-time series in the Shawnee Showdown, 57-2. OBU scored an 11-2 win at SGU last month. The Bison have won the last 17 games in the series, dating back to a 13-inning loss in 2012.

The Bison scored an 11-2 win over the Cavaliers in March with three home runs - two by
Zane Gelphman and one by
Josh Timms. OBU had 13 hits with Gelphman collecting four.Â
AJ Merkel got the pitching win with 11 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. Josh Melchor took the loss for the Cavaliers. Connor McCoy had three of SGU's seven hits.

The Cavaliers are 28-18 and having their best season, including taking two of three games against NAIA No. 1 Oklahoma City. The team also has seen some mysterious losses, including one to Ecclesia.

The Cavaliers are batting .289 as a team, led by Brandon Marerro at .386. Ryan Lugan-Leonard leads the team with seven home runs and 38 runs batted in.

SGU has a 6.56 team earned run average. Justin Davis is 3-1 with a 3.65 earned run average and has four starts this season.

Coming off of a three-game sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State, the Bison are 29-15 on the season and riding a six-game win streak.

Brett Berghammer at .383.
Josh Timms leads the team with nine home runs while
Zane Gelphman has a Great American Conference-leading 51 runs batted in.

The OBU pitching staff sports a 3.44 team earned run average.
Brad Adams carries a 2.55 ERA to lead the team in that category.
Blake Whitehead, a possible starter Tuesday, is 3-1 with a 4.50 earn run average.
