Lady Bison Finish First Day at Central Preview

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – (Round One Results) Oklahoma Baptist finished the first round at the Central Region Spring Preview tied for 15^th place Monday at Rivercut Golf Course.
 
In a very tight field, the Lady Bison are just five strokes back from 10^th place after finishing with a 333 team total. OBU matched Great American Conference foe Arkansas-Monticello at the midway point of the tournament.
 
"We had a rough front nine, but fought back on the second nine. That showed a lot of mental toughness by our group," said head coach Mike Manlapig. "They never gave up and kept fighting."
 
Shannen Stewart led the way with a six-over 72 and owns a share of 16^th place. Freshman Elly Baze birdied three of her last four holes to card an 80 on the first round and place T27.
 
Senior Emma Williams finished in 87, Michelle Carr used 88 strokes Monday, and Paige Neidy finished with a 95.
 
Northeastern State and Henderson State tied for the team lead at 309. Luisa Gartmann of Henderson State and Ebba Moberg of Northeastern State share the lead at even par 72.
 
Teams will wrap up the event Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
