Women's Golf Seventh in California

PALM DESERT, Calif. – After the first round of play Thursday at the Augustana Spring Fling, Oklahoma Baptist is seventh in a stacked field at the Classic Club.

Five teams ranked in the Golfstat top-35 rankings comprise the nine-team field, including Indianapolis, the reigning NCAA Division II national champion.

OBU finished with a 330 team total, and is 10 strokes behind host-school Augustana.

Freshman Michelle Carr paced the Lady Bison with a five-over 77, and is tied for eighth place. Carr finished with three birdies on the round, including on her final hole of the day, the par-five fourth.

Paige Neidy and Shannen Stewart both shot 84 and are tied for 41st place entering the final day of play.

Elly Baze shot an 85 in her opening round and is T44. Senior Emma Williams rounded out the five for OBU, using 88 strokes Thursday.

At the time of posting, the first round results for all teams were not final due to a scorecard discrepancy.

The final round will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Pacific (3 p.m. Central) on Friday afternoon.
