OBU Holds Off Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Oklahoma Baptist scored a 5-3 win over Florida Institute of Technology Saturday in a dual quickened by weather.

"The whole thing took 42 minutes and 13 seconds because radar had lightning moving in and we had a short window," said OBU Coach Sam Freas. "Some of our kids swam three times in that time, just because the way it was."

The meet was tied at 3-3, but Victoria Fonville, Miriam Avila, Blandine Tantart and Faith Moss won the 200 free relay for a 4-3 lead. The men's 200 free squad of Devyn Hill, Chad Brandon, Marc Sambolin and J.P. Goyetche closed the deal with a win.

Sambolin, Austin Sanders, Juliana Cifuentes and Grace Ann Clayton won the mixed 400 butterfly.

Complete results were not immediately available.

OBU returns to action in the Austin Grand Prix in Texas starting Thursday.
