SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist and East Central battle for .500 Saturday in a 6 p.m. kickoff at Koi Ishto Stadium for the Tigers' Homecoming.
Â
The game can be heard on the Bison Radio Network, starting with the 5:30 p.m. pregame show with Todd Miller and John Parrish. The game will be carried live at
www.OBUBisonLive.com, on the iHeart radio app, BRN Flagship station KGFF-AM 1450 and 100.9 FM in Shawnee, El Patron FM 98.5 in Oklahoma City and Chrome FM 93.5 in Tulsa.
Â
OBU coaches will be wearing the Coach to Cure MD patch Saturday in support of the AFCA's national game day awareness program to knock out Duchenne muscular dystrophy. To donate $5, text CURE to 90999.
Â
The Bison remain No. 1 in the NCCAA after beating Arkansas Tech on Sept. 10. Only one NCCAA team, Northwestern Minnesota, is unbeaten this season.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist and East Central come in at 1-2 and while the winner will still be in the hunt for a conference crown, the loser will play out its season for a place in the upper half of the standings.
Â
OBU is 1-6 on the road all-time in the GAC, but they've never lost more than three consecutive road games since re-starting the program in 2013.
Â
Bison QB Dez Stegall has completed passes to 13 different Bison receivers this season, including 10 in the last game.
Â
While Stegall hasn't settled on one receiver the Bison have settled on one quarterback. For the second time since the OBU football reboot, the Bison have used one quarterback exclusively in three consecutive games. Under first-year offensive coordinator
Grant Gower, no one has taken an offensive snap for the Bison other than Dez Stegall, who took every snap in the last two games of 2015 but only after a season-ending injury to
Blake Woodard in week nine.
Â
Isaiah Mallory has a chance to become the first Bison since
Jordan Barnes in 2014 to rush for 100 yards in three consecutive games. Barnes did that against Haskell, Texas College and Bacone. Despite rushing for just 23 yards on 11 carries in the season opener, Mallory is second in the Great American Conference, averaging 105 yards per game with 315 on the season.
Â
An Oklahoma Baptist linebacker has had double-digit tackles in every game this season.
Brynden Pitzer had 11 against Harding and
Levi Jennings had 12 against Arkansas Tech and 13 against Southeastern. Jennings leads the Bison with 30 tackles (10 per game).
Â
Oklahoma Baptist is the Homecoming opponent for the Tigers Saturday night. Since joining the GAC, the Bison have been a Homecoming opponent just one other time, falling 38-20 at Southern Arkansas last season.
Â
GAC Special Teams Player of the Week Jarod Haynes of East Central spent his undergraduate days at OBU, where he was a member of the Bison national championship swimming and diving teams.
Â
The Tigers have used two quarterbacks almost equally in three games. Brooks Holder is 30 of 50 with three interceptions and three touchdowns for 148.7 yards per game. Jackson Lamb is 31 of 45 without an interception against three touchdowns for 115.3 yards per game.
Â
David Moore has 13 receptions, 222 yards and three touchdowns as the primary target this year.
Â
JeQualon Wright is the leading rusher with 44.3 yards per game.
Â
Camnik Campbell leads the defense with 23 tackles.
