WINDSOR, Ont. – Oklahoma Baptist swimming alum
Daniel Ramirez Carranza finished 14
th in the 50 meter butterfly Friday evening in the FINA World Swimming Championships.

Ramirez qualified Friday morning for the semifinals in the event at 22.89. His time in the semifinals Friday night was 22.96.

Ramirez, who helped establish OBU as a NAIA powerhouse as a three-time NAIA Outstanding Swimmer of the Year and 19 national championships, swam the event in 22.89 seconds.

His preliminary time was 11
th of the 110 swimmers with the top 16 advancing to the next round.

Former OBU teammate A.J. Barbar also was in the prelims for the 50 free and finished 42
nd a 24.33.
