Meet Women's Golfer Shelby Phillips

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist women's golf team announced that Shelby Phillips has signed to play for the Lady Bison starting in the fall of 2017.

Phillips is a senior at Fort Gibson High School in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and the daughter of Ben and Kim Phillips. She has earned All-Conference honors three times, finished as the top medalist at Regionals, and placed fourth at the State Championships.

"Shelby is a great addition to an already good, young team. She is very competitive and will help us become better," said OBU head coach Mike Manlapig. "She will be able to challenge for a top five spot on our team."

Shelby was twice a member of the runner-up team at State, and was a State Champion under the direction of Fort Smith head coach Gary Hendrix.

"OBU gave me the opportunity to continue playing the sport I love while attending a school that would encourage me to grow my relationship with Christ," said Shelby. "It was in the middle of the worship service that began Preview Day, when I knew OBU was my perfect fit."
