SHAWNEE – A busy week for Oklahoma Baptist Volleyball in Great American Conference play kicks off with a home match against the reigning Great American Conference Tournament champions from Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Tuesday's match is the first of three this week for OBU, and the only home match.

Oklahoma Baptist (9-8, 3-1 GAC) suffered their first setback in league play last Tuesday at East Central, but hold sole possession of third place and are only a half-game back of first place. Offensively,
Nicole Fleitman and
Shekinah Sharpe have led the way, averaging 2.94 and 2.10 kills per set this season.
Cadyn Laing has been excellent over the course of the last six matches, averaging 2.52 kills/set and never recording less than 10 kills in a match.
Kynnedy Myers has topped 40 assists in four of her last six matches, and is averaging 8.55 assists per set.

Defensively, the Lady Bison have been playing big at the net thanks to Laing and
Taylor Williams, and currently rank second in the league with 2.11 blocks per set. Laing is averaging 1.5 blocks/set in her last six matches, and is second in the conference with an average of 1.14 blocks/set, while Williams owns a set average of .75 blocks.
Sierra VeraCruz is averaging 3.71 digs per set, and Sharpe 3.50, as OBU ranks third in the GAC with 16.58 digs/set.

Southwestern Oklahoma State (4-10, 2-2 GAC) has struggled to recreate their success from last year, but enters Tuesday's contest after putting together back-to-back wins over Southeastern Oklahoma State and East Central last week. Carly Zak, the GAC leader in kills this season, ranks in the top 25 nationally with 4.10 kills/set. Kayla Hebert is handing out 7.69 assists/set, while SWOSU has averaged only 10.08 assists/set. On the defensive side of the floor, SWOSU has the lowest dig average in the league at 14.19 digs/set, and no player ranks in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard.

Following Tuesday's match, OBU heads to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to face Ouachita Baptist on Thursday, Oct. 6. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
