Bison Ready for Last Road 2016 Trip

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist closes out the road portion of the 2016 football season Saturday with a trip to Henderson State University.
 
The Reddies (6-2) received votes in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division II Top 25 and the Bison (2-6) remain atop the National Christian College Athletics Association rankings.
 
OBU is 2-6 coming off of its heartbreaking loss at Southwestern, 37-35. The Reddies also are coming off a loss, 50-24, at Southern Arkansas,
 
It is the last road trip of the season for the Bison, who will close out the regular season with home games against Ouachita Baptist Nov. 5 and Southern Nazarene Nov. 12. OBU is 2-1 in its road finale since re-starting the program in 2013. OBU is 2-8 on the road all-time in the GAC, including a 1-3 mark in road games this season. The win was at East Central with losses to UAM, Harding and Southwestern Oklahoma State.
 
OBU is coming off a strong offensive showing from last week against Southwestern Oklahoma State. NCCAA Player of the Week Dez Stegall set OBU records last week with 25 completions and 332 yards passing in a game.

Josh Pettijohn had his third 100-yard receiving game of the season last week, tying the single season mark of Nyko Symonds for 100-yard games. Pettijohn leads the Bison with 31 catches and six touchdowns.
 
Running back Isaiah Mallory needs 41 yards to become just the second OBU Bison to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. Jordan Barnes has the OBU record at 1,087. Mallory, for a second consecutive week, leads the Great American Conference with an average of 119.9 yards rushing per game.

OBU defensive lineman Dennis Nguyen is third in the GAC with eight tackles for loss this season.
 
Bison safety D'Ante Meeking holds the career record with 11 interceptions and is tied this season with Charles Taylor III with two each. Meeking has led the Bison in picks in two of his three seasons so far.
 
OBU linebacker Levi Jennings needs just 28 tackles to become the second Bison to register 100 tackles in a season. Zack Bishop holds the record at 106, set last season.
 
The Bison Radio Network will broadcast Saturday's game on the flagship station KGFF (AM 1450, 100.9 FM) in Shawnee, in the Tulsa metro area on Chrome 93.5 FM and El Patron 98.5 FM in the Oklahoma City metro.
