Tournament Notes

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist starts competition today at the NCCAA Women's Golf National Championship in Panama City Beach, Fla.

The Lady Bison qualified for the 11-team field with an at-large bid. All three rounds will be played Monday through Wednesday at the Hombre Golf Club. The Hombre is a unique course that features three separate nines, the "Good," the "Bad," and the "Ugly." A different course configuration featuring two of the nines will be played each day.

Michelle Carr has shot in the 70s in three of her last four rounds, and is expected to play as the one bag once again for the Lady Bison. OBU finished fifth at the Great American Conference Preview after shooting two of the lowest three rounds of the season as a team.

Freshman Elly Baze is coming off her best round of the season, a one-over 73 at the GAC Preview on Oct. 11. She will look to continue her streak of good play, which has featured four of her last five rounds in the 70s.

Junior Kadrian Shelton has finished with either the second or third lowest score for the Lady Bison in every tournament she has appeared in this season. She has two rounds in the 70s this season, both coming in the last two tournaments.

The lone senior on the team is Emma Williams. Williams has two top-25 finishes this season, including a 17th place finish at the NCCAA Regional. She finished tied for 10th place at the 2015 NCCAA National Championship, and will once again lead a young OBU roster.

Shannen Stewart has posted the lowest round of the season this season for the Lady Bison, an even-par 72. She will once again look for a top-10 finish at the national championship after finishing eighth last season.

The Hombre will test the players each round, with the individual medalist finishing a 16-over par last year. Only two participants posted all three rounds in the 70s, with 74 being the lowest round of the tournament.
