Unable by NCAA rule to compete as a team at the Great American Conference cross country championship, Oklahoma Baptist had a strong showing on the awards stand.

Four Lady Bison made First-Team All-Conference, three others earned Second-Team status and Emily Sechrist captured GAC Freshman of the Year honors. Two Bison earned Second-Team All-GAC honors as well.

Abby Hoover placed second overall in the race at 17:09 on the five-kilometer course. Miranda Dent was third at 17:41, Sechrist was fifth at 17:47 and Sydney Lawrence took eighth at 17:52. All four of those runners earned All-GAC honors for finishing in the top 10.

Had the meet been scored including OBU, Harding would have edged the Lady Bison by three points.

"We ran pretty well, but Harding ran just a little bit better," said OBU Coach Matt Kennedy.

Kaylee Large was 12th at 18:21, Kelsey Doty was 15th at 18:40 and Zoya Timoshenko took 19th at 18:49 – all three earning Second-Team All-GAC awards for their top 20 finishes.

Also for the Lady Bison, Madison Newton ran in 18:59, Victoria Joslin in 19:18, Katelyn Fritz in 19:33, Emily Banks in 19:45, Lauren Franz in 19:53, Emily McCarthy in 20:00, Dani Ingle in 22:41 and Victoria Rivera in 25:33.
For the Bison, Ayoub Akil placed 13th at 26:08 on the eight-kilometer course and Blaine Whitson was 14th at 26:21. Both men earned All-Conference honors.

The men's coaches opted only for the top 15 to make All-GAC, costing Jordan Masterson the honor. He finished 18th at 26:29.

Also for the Bison, Jacob Janzen was 21st at 26:33, followed by Nathan Reed at 27:25, Nathan Crowson at 27:45, Tommy Uglean at 28:00, Grant Alexander at 28:09, Nathan Whitson at 28:19 and Zach Polley at 28:24.

OBU next runs Nov. 14 at the NCCAA National Championships in Houghton, N.Y.
