LEXINGTON, KY – After picking up two more wins against top-20 opponents, Oklahoma Baptist volleyball finds itself back inside the Top 25 of the AVCA-Taraflex Division II Coaches Poll for the first time since 2021. The Bison (7-2, 0-0 GAC) knocked off then #15 Central Oklahoma and then #17 Missouri-St. Louis last week to propel themselves to #24 in the latest poll.
OBU is 3-1 against ranked foes this year, with its only loss coming to current #2 Tampa. The ranking marks the first time that the Bison have been ranked in the Top 25 since being ranked #25 in Week 12 of the 2021 campaign.
Oklahoma Baptist is the only team from the Great American Conference to be ranked in the Top 25, as conference foe Harding is currently receiving votes. In all, six of the Bison's 2026 opponents are ranked or receiving votes in the current poll.
OBU has a chance to improve its resume even more this week as it will take on #25 Emporia State on Thursday, Sept. 10 in the GAC-MIAA Crossover. The Bison also face Southeastern Oklahoma State (Sept. 8), Fort Hays State (Sept. 10), and Pittsburg State (Sept. 11) this week.
