DARDANELLE, AR – After helping lead Oklahoma Baptist volleyball to a pair of victories over ranked opponents last week, senior
Rylee Unruh has been named as the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Unruh tallied 63 kills (3.32 k/s) as the Bison went 3-2 last week, including wins over #15 Central Oklahoma (3-0) and #17 Missouri-St. Louis (3-2). In those matchups, Unruh recorded 27 total kills (13 vs. UCO, 14 vs. UMSL) and committed just seven errors on 40 attempts.
She also had 16 kills against Florida Southern and 13 against Francis Marion and recorded an incredible 17 service aces during the week. Unruh had four aces in three different contests and increased her season total to a GAC-leading 24.
She currently ranks fifth in program history with 108 aces in a Bison uniform, and has 133 for her career after tallying 25 as a freshman at Washburn (2023). Unruh needs 26 more kills to get to 1,000 for her career, 772 of which have come at OBU.
It is the first GAC Player of the Week accolade of her career, and gives the Bison two-straight weekly honors after
Emily Boyer was named Setter of the Week on Aug. 31. It is OBU's first GAC Offensive Player of the Week award since Jill Leslie took home the honor on Oct. 16, 2023.
Unruh and the Bison open GAC play when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Noble Complex.
