EMPORIA, Kan. – Oklahoma Baptist won the Emporia State Collegiate Relays on Thursday against a field of 15 other teams. OBU tallied 129 points.
There were top performances littered across the event schedule for the green and gold.
During the high-jump competition,
Jamora Horace and
Jacey Hammon went first and second, respectively, with jumps of 1.77 and 1.74 meters. The latter total, a PR from Hammon, was the No. 5 jump in all of Division II. Both met NCAA qualifying standards too.
Over in the shot-put event,
Jenn Blackford earned a personal-best and third-place mark with a heave of 14.17m. That met NCAA qualifying standards as well.
Two more field events rendered qualifying marks: the hammer throw and triple jump.
Altyn Bartley took bronze with a throw of 53.69m while
Tenera Gray placed third with a jump of 12.13m.
OBU posted four more NCAA qualifying marks during the meet.
In the 400-meter dash,
Asia Foster (54.12) and
Bianca Gleim (55.25) finished in second and third, respectively, with NCAA marks. For Gleim, her time was a PR.
Then in the 4x100, Gleim,
Emery Lomon,
Olivia Tate and
De'ja Rose took silver crossing the finish line in 45.98. Lastly, the 4x400 team of Gleim,
Favour Okoye,
Brianna Jones and Foster won that event in 3:43.58.
Also of note,
Skylar Myers and
Tenera Gray each posted personal-best times in the long jump. Myers won with a jump of 5.79 meters while Gray reached 5.64 meters, good for second place. Furthermore,
Diamond Lewis took runner-up honors in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.59) while Tate (100m) and
Kieran Paxton (800m) placed third in their events.
