RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist pushed a nationally ranked Arkansas Tech squad to the brink on Saturday afternoon, but the Bison ultimately fell 80–75 in overtime at Tucker Coliseum.
OBU (10–11, 6–9 GAC) came out sharp on the road, scoring 26 first-quarter points and building an early advantage behind efficient shooting and strong ball movement. The Bison carried a 41–28 lead into halftime after holding the Golden Suns to just 28 points over the opening two quarters.
Arkansas Tech (16–3, 12–3 GAC) responded after the break, outscoring OBU 25–17 in the third quarter to pull back within striking distance. The teams traded momentum throughout the fourth, with Tech eventually forcing overtime as regulation ended tied at 70–70.
In the extra period, Arkansas Tech knocked down key shots and free throws down the stretch, edging the Bison 10–5 in overtime to secure the win.
Katelyn Davis led Oklahoma Baptist with 21 points, knocking down four three-pointers and playing all 45 minutes.
Parker Stevenson added 16 points, hitting 6-of-12 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, while
Jaedyn Getman posted a strong all-around performance with 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Jordyn Anderson contributed 10 points, five assists, and three blocks, and
Brenna Butler added seven points and three rebounds as the Bison placed four players in double figures.
Oklahoma Baptist shot 38.2 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from three-point range while converting 16-of-19 free throws. The Bison recorded 11 assists, but Arkansas Tech capitalized at the foul line in overtime to make the difference.
Arkansas Tech was led by Logan Young's 23 points and 10 rebounds, while AbbiGrace Cunningham added 17 points, including a crucial three-pointer in overtime.
The Bison travel to Bethany, OK next Thursday to take on Southern Nazarene at 5:30 pm.
