Bison Volleyball Returns to National Rankings

LEXINGTON, KY – After winning both matches last week to extend its winning streak to six matches, Oklahoma Baptist volleyball has re-entered the AVCA-Taraflex Division II Coaches Poll at #24. The Bison (15-4, 7-0 GAC) are off to a perfect start in Great American Conference play after knocking off Harding and Arkansas Tech last week, and are two matches ahead of the second-place teams in the conference.

OBU had been ranked 24th in the Week 2 poll (Sept. 7) after getting of to a 7-2 start with wins over a trio of ranked opponents (#15 Central Oklahoma, #17 Missouri-St.Louis, #19 West Texas A&M). Despite falling out of the top 25 the following week, the Bison have been near the top of teams receiving votes nearly all season.

Oklahoma Baptist is the only team in the GAC to appear in the poll in any capacity. The Bison travel to Southern Arkansas (Oct. 8) and Arkansas-Monticello (Oct. 9) before returning home to take on Henderson State (Oct. 15) and Ouachita Baptist (Oct. 16). OBU has won 10 matches in a row against Southern Arkansas and nine-straight against Arkansas-Monticello.
