DARDANELLE, AR – After helping lead Oklahoma Baptist volleyball to a pair of crucial Great American Conference victories last week, junior
Melody Donegan has been named as the GAC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, Oct. 5.
Donegan tallied 32 kills with a .403 attack percentage in wins over Harding and Arkansas Tech last week. The victories, which came against the teams tied for second in the GAC standings, improved the Bison's record to 7-0 in conference play, extended OBU's overall winning streak to six matches, and put the Bison two full matches ahead of second place in the conference standings.
In last Thursday's five-set win over Harding, Donegan recorded a career-high 16 kills while hitting .406 on the match. She also added two digs and a block assist to her stat line. Donegan followed that performance up with 16 kills on a .400 attack percentage in a 3-1 win over Arkansas Tech last Friday. She added two digs and a block assist in that contest as well.
Donegan's award, the first of her career, gives Oklahoma Baptist five GAC weekly honors through the season's first six weeks.
Rylee Unruh (Sept. 17 & Sept. 14) has won Offensive Player of the Week twice, while
Emily Boyer (Aug. 31 & Sept. 21) has earned two Setter of the Week awards.
The five weekly awards are Oklahoma Baptist's most in a season since 2023, when the Bison collected seven conference honors and recorded multiple award winners in two different weeks.
OBU returns to action this week with matches at Southern Arkansas (Oct. 8) and Arkansas-Monticello (Oct. 9) before hosting Henderson State (Oct. 15) and Ouachita Baptist (Oct. 16).
