SHAWNEE – A highly-anticipated season is about three weeks away for the Oklahoma Baptist softball program.
Head Coach
Jace Brewer, who attained the most wins by a first-year coach (36 in 2025) in OBU softball history, returns with numerous key contributors for a squad that made the GAC Tournament Championship last May.
The 2026 slate starts the weekend of Jan. 31 at the Lonestar Invite in Mansfield, Texas. Over the course of three days, the Bison play Minnesota State Moorhead, UT Dallas, Eastern New Mexico, Central Missouri and Missouri Southern.
A weekend later, the Bison will take part in the yearly Oklahoma Christian/Central Oklahoma Invitational. On Feb. 6, OBU plays Fort Lewis and New Mexico Highlands before a Saturday, Feb. 7 doubleheader with Black Hills State (S.D.) and Oklahoma Christian. To cap off the weekend, the green and gold face Eastern New Mexico on Feb. 8.
The early-season road swing continues Feb. 12-13 in Tahlequah during the Cherokee Nation Festival. Between those two days, the Bison face Rogers State, UCO, Washburn and Northeastern State.
Great American Conference play follows to close the month of February. A home series with Arkansas-Monticello (Feb. 20-21) and three-game series at SWOSU (Feb. 27-28) will be the Bison's opening conference competition.
At the start of March, OBU plays eight straight games at home. Those include GAC series with East Central (March 6-7) and Henderson State (March 13-14) as well as a non-conference twin bill with Cameron (March 10).
After that, the Bison visit Texas Woman's (March 18) and Ouachita (March 20-21). The end of March brings Southeastern to Shawnee on March 27-28 for a three-game series.
April competition has Northwestern Oklahoma State (April 2-3) and Harding (4/10-11) coming to Bison Hill before the team closes the regular season on the road. Down the stretch, OBU heads to Northeastern State (4/14), Arkansas Tech (4/17-18) and Southern Nazarene (4/24-25). Finally, the team goes to last year's GAC Tournament champion Southern Arkansas on May 1-2.
Postseason play at the GAC Tournament is May 7-9 in Bentonville, Ark.
