SHAWNEE -- The Oklahoma Baptist University Bison baseball team opens the 2026 season with a sense of anticipation later this month. As the season's 48-game schedule was released, a series of home battles, conference clashes, and early-season tests are on the horizon for the green and gold.
The Bison start play at the Dugan Invitational in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where they'll face Southwest Baptist and Ouachita on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. A few days after that, OBU will host Central Oklahoma on Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. for its first contest at Bobby Cox Field at Ford Park.
OBU will stay at home the following weekend when it welcomes Missouri-St. Louis on Feb. 8-9 for games at 2 and 1 p.m. The Bison then close their early non-conference schedule with another home game, this one against Arkansas Fort Smith on Feb. 10.
Great American Conference play follows the next weekend. Perennial GAC contender Southern Arkansas makes a trip to Shawnee between Feb. 13-14 before the Bison head to Arkansas-Monticello on Feb. 20-21. Sandwiched between those two series is a date in Edmond against Central Oklahoma on Feb. 17.
To close the month of February, OBU hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State on Feb. 27-28
In March, Coach
Chris Cox's team will be on the road a bit. Following a March 3 home date with Northeastern State, the Bison will head to East Central on March 6-7 before a return trip to Arkansas Fort Smith on March 10. The next weekend, the Bison will face off in Arkadelphia against Henderson State (March 13-14).
After eight straight away from home, the Bison come back March 20-21 versus Ouachita. Over the rest of the month of March, OBU will play at Southern Nazarene (3/24), Southeastern (3-27/28) and SWOSU on the 31st.
In April, 11 of the 14 games will be played on Bison Hill. From April 3-4, the Bison host Northwestern Oklahoma State before a trip to Harding on April 10-11. Following a home game against East Central on April 14, the green and gold host Arkansas Tech (April 17-18) and Southern Nazarene (April 24-25) to close out their regular season.
