ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Jamora Horace and
Asia Foster had a pair of standout performances over the weekend as Oklahoma Baptist competed at University of New Mexico's Team Open and the Pitt State Invite.
Out west, Horace won the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.81m (5-11.25). That currently stands as the best jump in Division II, and it met NCAA provisional standards.
For Foster, she dialed up a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash when she crossed the finish line in 54.77. That's the seventh-best performance in the nation as of this writing. Plus, it met indoor NCAA qualifying standards.
There were also a couple other notable efforts in New Mexico.
Emery Lomon PR'd in the 60-meter dash (7.85) and 200 (25.31) while Tenera Gray achieved a personal-best in the triple jump (12.28m). That performance from Gray was also good for fifth place in that event.
Furthermore,
Bianca Gleim,
Bella Driver,
Favour Okoye and Foster earned fifth place in the 4x400 relay, finishing in 3:47.96. Gleim also added a tenth-place mark in the 400 (57.12).
Over at Pitt State in Kansas, there were a slew of PR's attained by the Bison.
In field events,
Kiara Stallin did so in the weight throw (14.44m). Teammate
Altyn Bartley also earned sixth place in that event with a throw of 16.44m.
In track competition,
Kieran Paxton and
Analise Gonzalez each attained personal-best times in the 800-meter dash with marks of 2:21.77 and 2:22.03, respectively.
The last pair of personal-bests were delivered by
McKayla Schmitt and
Adelaide Murphy. Competing in the 3,000 meters, that duo took second and eighth place, respectively, with times of 10:12.63 and 10:25.57.
Other top marks from Pitt State included
Jacey Hammon finishing in a tie for sixth in the high jump (1.58m); Bartley earning sixth in the shot put (12.83m);
Mekenzie Lyda placing seventh in the mile (5:04.45) and the distance medley relay team of Paxton, Gonzalez,
Trista Etheridge and Murphy earning fourth in that race (12:30.08). Plus,
Lauren Crouch earned eighth in the 800 (2:20.24).
The Bison will return to competition on Feb. 13 at Pitt State's Gorilla Classic.
