SHAWNEE – After a 15-day Christmas-break layoff, Oklahoma Baptist (9-2, 3-2 GAC) returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 3 when it hosts Northwestern Oklahoma State (5-6, 2-3 GAC) at 7:30 p.m.
The Bison's last game at East Central went sour, as they fell to the Tigers on Dec. 18 by a 91-75 score. As for the Rangers, they beat previously No. 3-ranked Southern Nazarene, 63-60, on a last second heave in Alva the same day.
Historically, OBU leads the series with NWOSU 22-10 and has won six of the last seven contests inside the Noble Complex.
Todd Miller and Dave Myrick will have the call of the game on the Bison Sports Network and KGFF 100.9.
Bison Notes
- OBU scored 76 points, tied for its lowest mark of the season, in the loss to East Central.
- They also made just 22.2 percent from deep (4-of-18) and 62.1 percent from the free throw line (18-of-29).
- The Bison still lead the GAC in points per game at 82.3 and are second in field goal percentage (48.5).
- Free throw shooting continues to be an issue, as we saw in Ada a couple of weeks ago. OBU is dead last in team free throw percentage (64.4).
- Also of note, Udoumoh and Jackson Greene are slotted in the top 13 in rebounding, with each pulling down at least 5.6 boards per game.
- In three home games so far, Jason Eaker's team is winning by an average of 16.7 points per game (85-68.3).
Ranger Notes
- NWOSU's upset win over SNU moved its home record to 4-1. However, they are 0-4 away from Alva.
- The Rangers give up 48.4 percent shooting to opponents and 37.9 percent from deep. Both of those marks are No. 12 in the GAC.
- Plus, Northwestern allows opponents to grab 36.5 rebounds per game. That, too, is 12th in the league.
- Max Alexander leads the GAC in scoring (21.3); however, he is not slotted within the top-25 in field goal percentage.
- Alexander has taken a whopping 70 more shots (174) than NWOSU's next highest player too (Keyondre Young; 104).
- Robbie Armbrester is putting together a fine season, leading the Rangers in rebounding (6.6) while scoring 14.7 points per game and hitting 74 percent from the field.
