ALVA – Oklahoma Baptist volleyball continued Great American Conference play in dominant fashion, sweeping Northwestern Oklahoma State in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-19) on Tuesday. With the win, the Bison improved their overall record to 12-4 while also remaining undefeated in GAC play (4-0).
OBU's offense clicked throughout the match, finishing with a .226 hitting percentage compared to Northwestern's .073. The Bison tallied 42 kills, 10 blocks, and six service aces, outscoring the Rangers 58-33 in total points.
Middle blocker
Mackenzie Frazee led the offense with a .545 hitting percentage producing seven kills on 11 swings.
Lauren Safrit also powered the attack with a season-high 12 kills on a .429 hitting percentage, while
Rylee Unruh followed with eight kills and seven digs.
Setter
Emily Boyer directed the offense with 21 assists and added three aces. Freshman
Madi Barnes chipped in eight assists and nine digs, providing balance on both ends. Libero
Karsyn Hunter anchored the defense with 19 digs.
At the net,
Addison Dale led with a match- and season-high six blocks, two solo blocks and four block assists.
Melody Donegan added three block assists and five kills. By the end of the match, the Bison out-blocked NWOSU 10-4.
Set One (25-18): OBU started the set on a six-point scoring run, using strong serving and balanced offense to keep Northwestern trailing. Safrit tallied five kills in the set to secure the 25-18 win.
Set Two (25-17): The Bison offense came together, hitting .231 in the set. With another six-point scoring run, OBU clinched the 25-17 win.
Set Three (25-19): OBU sealed the sweep with its most efficient set, hitting .262 with 16 kills. The Bison maintained control throughout, using steady offense and tough defense to close the match with a 25-19 win.
Oklahoma Baptist returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 2, against East Central University in the Noble Complex.
