ARCATA, Calif. -- Oklahoma Baptist put together a dominant performance Thursday night, sweeping Cal Poly Humboldt in straight sets (25-15, 25-16, 25-21) inside Lumberjack Arena. With the win, the Bison improved to 4-2 on the season.
The Bison attack was sharp from the start, hitting .364 in the opening set before surging to a .600 mark in the second. Overall, OBU finished with an impressive .351 hitting percentage, compared to just .119 for Humboldt.
Allie Stricker and
Taya McReynolds led the charge at the net, tallying 11 and 10 kills respectively. McReynolds was especially efficient, committing no errors on 17 swings for a .588 clip. Plus, McReynolds' 10 kills were a career-high.
Rylee Unruh added seven kills at a .438 rate, while
Mackenzie Frazee chipped in four more.
Setter
Emily Boyer kept the offense in rhythm with 18 assists and four service aces, while libero
Karsyn Hunter anchored the back row with eight digs. Unruh also added a team-high 11 digs.
Madi Barnes also contributed 15 assists and two aces, giving OBU a strong dual-setting presence. Defensively, the Bison registered six blocks, led by
Lillian Noble's three.
For Humboldt, Sadie Scott and Rahni Greene each recorded seven kills, but the Jacks struggled with efficiency, committing 33 errors to just 38 kills. Setter Brielle Wilson dished out 13 assists, while Sophia Spoja collected a team-high 11 digs.
The Lumberjacks hung tough in the third set, pulling within four late, but OBU's balance and efficiency proved too much. With their second sweep of the season, the Bison will look to carry momentum into their next matchup on Friday at 4 p.m. against Dominican University of California.
