SHAWNEE – Gavin Strickland joins the Oklahoma Baptist University Athletics Department as Assistant Director of Athletics Bands.
Strickland is a native of Tulsa and graduate (Magna Cum Laude) of Northeastern State University. He earned his Bachelor's of Music Education just this past May.
He brings a wealth of knowledge to the Bison Brigade. While at NSU, Strickland was a member of the trumpet ensemble for nearly three years as well as the trumpet-wind ensemble. Plus, over the past two years, he was a member of the Tulsa Brass Band.
Strickland also spent time in Madison, Wisc., and Concord, Calif., on a pair of drum and bugle corps. Furthermore, he was a private lessons teacher in trumpet and piano and over the past year at Union High School in Tulsa, was a brass/visual instructor for the marching back and indoor percussion teams.
