RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Great American Conference and its coaches picked Oklahoma Baptist to finish in fourth on Tuesday during the league's yearly preseason release.
OBU's fourth-place rank marked the first time since its inaugural GAC season of 2016 (6th) that the green and gold were ranked outside the top three. In their history, the Bison have been the preseason favorite three times.
Last season, the Bison went 6-6-7 and were heartbroken in the GAC Tournament Final after an overturned overtime goal against Ouachita eventually led the two teams to a penalty-kick shootout which the Tigers won.
Since joining the league in 2016, OBU has played in every conference tourney championship (8).
As for this season's coaches' poll, Harding was picked to finish in first while Southern Nazarene and Ouachita followed in second and third, respectively.
