Harding Downs Oklahoma Baptist

SEARCY, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist battled evenly with Harding for much of the afternoon, but two second-half goals lifted HU to a 2-0 Great American Conference victory Saturday at Stevens Soccer Complex.

The loss dropped the Bison to 2-10-1 overall and 1-6-1 in GAC play, while Harding improved to 7-4-1 overall and 6-1 in the conference.

After a scoreless first half, OBU generated more offensive opportunities following the break, outshooting its first-half total 9-1 in the final 45 minutes. Addison Gray led the visitors with four shots, including two on goal, while Annelis Perez, Hali White, and Camden Ocheskey each added quality chances.

The match remained deadlocked until the 57th minute when Harding's Mykala Ulrich finished a long pass from Kendall Jerkins to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.

Oklahoma Baptist continued to press for an equalizer and recorded several shots on target, but Harding goalkeeper Maysa Willis turned away all five OBU attempts on goal to preserve the shutout.

The hosts added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute when Gabie Eddins converted a cross from Campbell Cox after a deflection in front of goal.

Goalkeeper Emilia Gallego made four saves for the Bison and kept OBU within striking distance throughout the contest. Both teams finished with five saves, while Harding held a narrow 12-10 edge in total shots and a massive 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

OBU's next match comes Oct. 24 at East Central.
