BETHANY – Southern Nazarene (5-5-2, 4-2-1 GAC) scored four second-half goals en route to a 4-1 victory over Oklahoma Baptist (2-9-1, 1-5-1 GAC) on Saturday at Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex.
SNU dominated possession on this day, out-shooting OBU 19-8, including a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal. Plus, the Crimson Storm held a 5-0 corner kicks advantage.
In the first stanza, each squad had a few opportunities on goal.
Camden Ocheskey, and
Addison Gray fired a trio of shots on target, however, those three attempts were denied by SNU keeper Madaline Bullard.
On the opposite sideline, the hosts earned shots from Darby Boehler and Mallory Bennett and tested Bison freshman goalie
Emilia Gallego. But the green and gold's goalie stopped both attempts.
The second half was a different story though.
About three minutes into the second half, SNU's JQ Molgaard broke the scoreless tie. Less than 10 minutes later, the hosts doubled their advantage when Boehler scored on an assist by Shianne Stringer.
For the Bison, over the next 28 minutes, they couldn't attempt a shot before SNU scored again. In the 84th minute, SNU scored its third, moving their lead to 3-0 after Adison Johnson's goal.
The Storm added one more goal before
Hali White converted a penalty-kick goal for the final tally of 4-1.
OBU returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. against Ouachita.
