RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Oklahoma Baptist University athletic department earned third place among all conference institutions in the Great American Conference's Commissioner's Cup and President's Trophy Awards.
The Bison notched 82.5 points for both awards. Since joining the league full-time during the 2017-18 academic year, OBU has been either second or third each time.
Points for each award are earned based on each school's finish in sports that six or more schools sponsor within the GAC. The regular season standings determine the points awarded for sports with a round-robin schedule, while conference championships determine the points in sports without a regular-season format.
During the past athletic cycle, Bison women's track and field claimed the GAC Outdoor Championship while the softball team was second in the standings and made the tournament championship for the first time. Also, the OBU women's soccer squad made the GAC Tournament Final while the women's hoops program had its first 20-win season in a decade and finished third in the standings.
