SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist University women's soccer program announced the hiring of Katy Barahona as its newest assistant coach.
Barahona, a native of Shawnee, graduated with a Bachelor's in business administration from St. Gregory's University in 2016. Last May, she earned her Master's of education from Southern Nazarene University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Barahona brings over a decade of coaching experience to Bison Hill.
She's coached girls' competitive soccer through the Shawnee Soccer Association and at Shawnee Middle School. Plus, she guided a U18 boys' squad to the Winter 2024 Futsal Championship at OBU.
During her playing days, she was a starter for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in 2008-09 in Miami.
Away from soccer, she's a member of IBC in Shawnee and part of the Oklahoma Education Association and Professional Oklahoma Educators.
