SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist standout senior
Sophia Strange won the 10,000 for the second consecutive season on Wednesday during the first day of the Great American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Strange started to pull away with about seven laps remaining and finished with a time of 37:07.79. That was roughly 35 seconds better than the second-place finisher, Ouachita's Mackenzie Davis.
Among OBU's other top finishes,
Valerie Olson and
Zoee Weaver finished in third and fourth, respectively, in the javelin. Olson threw a personal-best 120-7.00 while Weaver reached 117-8.0. That, too, was a personal-best.
With Wednesday's results completed, Oklahoma Baptist sits in first place with 26 points while Ouachita follows with 18.
