OBU Baseball swept by Wonder Boys after pair of losses Friday afternoon

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Bison Baseball had a tough run at Arkansas Tech after dropping all three games to the Wonder Boys

Oklahoma Baptist Baseball remains stale offensively after facing an 0-3 outcome in the series with Arkansas Tech. 

After a tough 13-3 loss in Game 1, day two's action carried the same verdict. Game 2 saw a 9-5 final and the series finale ended 10-5 in favor of the home team. 

Game 2
OBU started off with a solo run coming across in the opening inning. The Bison held the lead until the third inning, where the home team put up two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead by one run. In the top of the fourth, the Bison answered with three runs to retake the lead. The fifth inning saw another run come across for OBU, their last of the game. In the bottom of sixth, the Wonder Boys woke up, totaling four runs to take the lead again by one run. The seventh inning saw another trio of runs added for ATU, totaling a 9-5 final for Arkansas Tech. 

The Bison totaled five runs on 12 hits with three errors. Oklahoma Baptist had four homeruns and one double to make up the thick of the offense. 

Zane Bennett finished with two homeruns in Game 2, ending the day 2-4 at the plate with two runs and a couple RBI. 

DJ Van Atten had a homer for OBU, going 3-5 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI. 

Jesse Tisdell had the other homerun for the Bison, finishing1-4 on the day with one run scored and two RBI. 

Keenan Morris had the lone double in the first game of the day, earning a 2-5 finish at the plate. 

Marcus Peters went 4.0 innings on the mound, giving up two earned runs on four hits, walking five batters and striking out four. 

Javarian Roquemore (L, 1-2) took the loss after 2.0 innings on the bump, giving up four earned runs on four hits, walking two and striking out a pair. 

William Ellis went 2.0 innings on the mound, totaling four runs (two earned) given up on three hits, walking none and striking out one. 
 
Game 3
In the series finale, the Bison were first on the board with a single run across. The Wonder Boys added a run in the bottom of the first to even the score. In the bottom of the second, the home team totaled eight runs. The top of the third tacked on another run for OBU. The fourth stanza saw the same result with one run added for the visitors. In the top of the fifth, the Bison added two more runs while the Wonder Boys tallied a single run in the bottom of the inning. The sixth and the seventh went scoreless, ending in a 10-5 final for ATU. 

Oklahoma Baptist totaled five runs on seven hits with no errors. 

The Bison totaled three homeruns and one double in the final game of the series. 

Morris contributed one homerun for the green and gold, finishing 1-3 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI. 

Spencer Dickinson had another homerun for the Bison, going 1-3 at the plate with one run scored and two RBI.

Austin Gonzales added a homer for the visitors, ending the finale with a 1-3 record at the plate with one run scored and one RBI.

Bennett contributed a double for the Bison 1-4 at the plate with one RBI.

Bryant Thornton (L, 4-4) took the loss after 1.0 inning on the mound, giving up seven earned runs on five hits, walking three batters and striking out none. 

Jalen Johnston went 3.1 innings on the mound, giving up three earned runs on three hits, walking two and striking out one.

Nick Meyer totaled 1.2 innings on the mound, giving up no runs on one hit, walking none and striking out two. 

Next up for OBU is a trip to Bethany for a weekend series with Southern Nazarene. Game 1 will begin April 25 at 2 p.m. The following day will see a pair of games on the slate with the first game of the day set for noon and the series finale to follow.
