Bison Women Split Up During Weekend Competition

SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field team split up their members into two meets this weekend: Wichita State's KT Woodman Classic and the Arkansas Razorbacks Springtime Invite.

OBU's throwers delivered the best marks in Wichita during the two-day meet. In the shot put, Altyn Bartley claimed eighth place with a throw of 13.47 meters. There was also an eighth-place finish by Jade Byrd in the hammer throw event. OBU's standout senior reached 52.66.

Also, Byrd was slotted 10th in the discus with a throw of 43.55m.

In running events, Jade Robinson posted a 23rd-place finish in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 18:33.28. Plus, freshman Kieran Paxton earned 26th when she crossed the finish line of the 800 with a time of 2:23.68.

Also of note, Lauren Crouch wrapped up the 1,500 in 43rd place (5:03.79).

ARKANSAS SPRINGTIME INVITE
Anisha Henderson led OBU in Fayetteville. In the long jump, she earned runner-up honors with a jump of 6.04 meters. That was an NCAA Provisional mark as well.

Teammate Jamora Horace delivered the Bison's next-best finish. During high jump competition, she reached 1.70 meters, another qualifying NCAA standard.

Valerie Olson, a specialist in the hurdles, also earned a provisional mark for the Bison. In the 100-meter hurdles, she finished in 11th place with a personal-best time of 14.16.

In relay competition, the 4x100 and 4x400 teams performed very well. In the 4x100, Olson, Asia Foster, Delaney Riekert and Olivia Tate earned seventh place with a PR and NCAA Provisional time of 45.85.

During the longer relay, Olson, Riekert, Mary McKey and Foster earned fifth place overall with a time of 3:42.81. That was another season-best for that group as well as an NCAA qualifying mark.

Senior Kaylen King added another PR for the Bison. During the 800-meter run, she finished in sixth with a time of 2:14.40.

Rounding out OBU's best marks, Crouch and McKey each placed seventh in the 800 and 400 hurdles, respectively. Crouch finished with a time of 2:20.05 while McKey clocked a 1:02.36.
