SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's
Asia Foster and
Valerie Olson were voted as the Great American Conference's Track and Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
For each student-athlete, it's their first career outdoor honors.
In running events, Foster was a part of two, 1st-place, NCAA-qualifying performances. During the 200-meter race, the freshman from Barbados crossed the finish line in 23.77. That was a personal-best time as well.
Foster then was a part of the 4x100 relay team's efforts that completed that event in 46.24.
During field competition, Olson had a record-setting performance in the heptathlon during the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. She tallied a school-record 5,428 points which bested a 2015 performance by Elizabeth Dadzie (5,146 pts).
Included in Olson's efforts were first-place showings in the shot put (12.60m) and 200 (24.19) as well as a runner-up finish in the 800 (2:17.38).
